commit 6645d42d79d33e8a9fe262660a75d5f4556bbea9 upstream.

leaked if number of fences overflows. Release sync_file by goto err.

sg_table is being initialized and is never read before it is updated
again later on, hence making the initialization redundant. Remove
the initialization.

Up until recently sync_file were create to export a single dma-fence to
userspace, and so we could canabalise a bit insie dma-fence to mark
whether or not we had enable polling for the sync_file itself. However,
with the advent of syncobj, we do allow userspace to create multiple
sync_files for a single dma-fence. (Similarly, that the sw-sync
validation framework also started returning multiple sync-files wrapping
a single dma-fence for a syncpt also triggering the problem.)
This patch reverts my suggestion in commit e241655373
("dma-buf/sync_file: only enable fence signalling on poll()") to use a
single bit in the shared dma-fence and restores the sync_file->flags for
tracking the bits individually.

commit 24a367348a017555f982a9ee137070a7a821fa97 upstream.
This was missed when adding a dma_fence_get call. While at it also
remove the kerneldoc for the static inline helper - no point
documenting internals down to every detail.

commit 30cd85dd6edc86ea8d8589efb813f1fad41ef233 upstream.
fence referencing was out of balance. It was not taking any ref to the
fence at creating time, but it was putting a reference when freeing the
sync file.
This patch fixes the balancing issue by getting a reference for the fence
when creating the sync_file.

commit ea4d5a270b57fa8d4871f372ca9b97b7697fdfda upstream.
To avoid hanging userspace components that might have been waiting on the
active fences of the destroyed timeline we need to signal with error all
remaining fences on such timeline.
This restore the default behaviour of the Android sw_sync framework, which
Android still relies on. It was broken on the dma fence conversion a few
years ago and never fixed.

commit a009e975da5c7d42a7f5eaadc54946eb5f76c9af upstream.
The dma_fence.error field (formerly known as dma_fence.status) is an
optional field that may be set by drivers before calling
dma_fence_signal(). The field can be used to indicate that the fence was
completed in err rather than with success, and is visible to other
consumers of the fence and to userspace via sync_file.
This patch renames the field from status to error so that its meaning is
hopefully more clear (and distinct from dma_fence_get_status() which is
a composite between the error state and signal state) and adds a helper
that validates the preconditions of when it is suitable to adjust the
error field.

commit d6c99f4bf093a58d3ab47caaec74b81f18bc4e3f upstream.
The fence->status is an optional field that is only valid once the fence
has been signaled. (Driver may fill the fence->status with an error code
prior to calling dma_fence_signal().) Given the restriction upon its
validity, wrap querying of the fence->status into a helper
dma_fence_get_status().

commit 83dd1376fd92f33bdeca9e83d479534a4e7f870b upstream.
As the fence->status is an optional field that may be set before
dma_fence_signal() is called to convey that the fence completed with an
error, we have to ensure that it is always set to zero on initialisation
so that the typical use (i.e. unset) always flags a successful completion.

commit 3792b7c1a70815fe4e954221c096f9278638fd21 upstream.
If userspace already dropped its own reference by closing the sw_sync
fence fd we might end up in a deadlock where
dma_fence_is_signaled_locked() will trigger the release of the fence and
thus try to hold the lock to remove the fence from the list.
dma_fence_is_signaled_locked() tries to release/free the fence and hold
the lock in the process.
We fix that by changing the order operation and clean up the list and
rb-tree first.

The sync_pt were not adding themselves atomically to the timeline lists,
corruption imminent. Only a single list is required to track the
unsignaled sync_pt, so reduce it and rename the lock more appropriately
along with using idiomatic names to distinguish a list from links along
it.

commit 99f828436788f0155798145853607ca8f0e6de93 upstream.
dma-buf/sync_file: Allow multiple sync_files to wrap a single dma-fence

This reverts commit ecebca79f6.
Do not enable fence callback on poll() when using fence_array causes the
fence_array to not signal.
For now we will revert the change and enable signaling everytime time
poll is called with timeout=0 as well.

Reverts commit fb8b7d2b9d
("reservation: wait only with non-zero timeout specified (v3)")
Otherwise signaling might never be activated on the fences. This can
result in infinite waiting with hardware which has unreliable interrupts.
v2: still return one when the timeout is zero and we don't have any fences.

Reverts commit 847b19a39e
("dma-buf/fence: don't wait when specified timeout is zero")
When we don't call the wait function software signaling might never be
activated. This can cause infinite polling loops with unreliable interrupt
driven hardware.

Once sw_sync_ioctl_create_fence() returns we no longer have the
*pt pointer to the fence base object thus we need to put the reference
we have from the fence creation to keep a correct reference accounting.

fence referencing was out of balance. It was not taking any ref to the
fence at creating time, but it was putting a reference when freeing the
sync file.
This patch fixes the balancing issue by getting a reference for the fence
when creating the sync_file.

In order to be completely generic, we have to double check the read
seqlock after acquiring a reference to the fence. If the driver is
allocating fences from a SLAB_DESTROY_BY_RCU, or similar freelist, then
within an RCU grace period a fence may be freed and reallocated. The RCU
read side critical section does not prevent this reallocation, instead
we have to inspect the reservation's seqlock to double check if the
fences have been reassigned as we were acquiring our reference.

Add compat ioctl support to dma-buf. This lets one to use DMA_BUF_IOCTL_SYNC
ioctl from 32bit application on 64bit kernel. Data structures for both 32
and 64bit modes are same, so there is no need for additional translation

If the merged fence is a fence array, register it for callbacks.
This makes sure that the fence array is notified whenever the
component fences are signaled, and update its internal counter
of pending fences. Without this the fence array will never know
when its fences are signaled.

When merging sync_files there is a case when we can end up with only one
fence in the merged sync_file: when all fences belong to the same
timeline.
So for this case a fence_array is not created instead we just assigned the
fence to sync_file->fence. Then we do not use the fences array anymore nor
does free it.
This patch frees the array.
