ALSA: usb-audio: Fix parse of UAC2 Extension Units
commit ca95c7bf3d29716916baccdc77c3c2284b703069 upstream.
Extension Unit (XU) is used to have a compatible layout with
Processing Unit (PU) on UAC1, and the usb-audio driver code assumed it
for parsing the descriptors. Meanwhile, on UAC2, XU became slightly
incompatible with PU; namely, XU has a one-byte bmControls bitmap
while PU has two bytes bmControls bitmap. This incompatibility
results in the read of a wrong address for the last iExtension field,
which ended up with an incorrect string for the mixer element name, as
recently reported for Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 device.
This patch corrects this misalignment by introducing a couple of new
macros and calling them depending on the descriptor type.

USB/PHY patches for 4.19-rc1
Here is the big USB and phy driver patch set for 4.19-rc1.
Nothing huge but there was a lot of work that happened this development
cycle:
- lots of type-c work, with drivers graduating out of staging,
and displayport support being added.
- new PHY drivers
- the normal collection of gadget driver updates and fixes
- code churn to work on the urb handling path, using irqsave()
everywhere in anticipation of making this codepath a lot
simpler in the future.
- usbserial driver fixes and reworks
- other misc changes
Full details are in the shortlog.
All of these have been in linux-next with no reported issues for a
while.

usb: changes for v4.19
Not a big pull request with only 37 non-merge commits, most of which are touching dwc2 (74% of the changes). The most important changes are dwc2's support for uframe scheduling and its endian-agnostic readl/writel wrappers. From dwc3 side we have a special new glue layer for Synopsys HAPS which will help Synopsys running FPGA validation using our upstream driver. We also have the beginnings of dual-role support for Intel Merrifield platform. Apart from these, just a series of non-critical changes. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQJRBAABCgA7FiEElLzh7wn96CXwjh2IzL64meEamQYFAltewsEdHGZlbGlwZS5i YWxiaUBsaW51eC5pbnRlbC5jb20ACgkQzL64meEamQaV8BAAziA9QIT6to7Zzd7t tsfU3chXUS2t+fZ6drADdHHwJTvjCT4D9FbpYFSNC9lanSLB+IwQ6rZGglyyPh5P DVcWObi8wR1+w8gcx+NL65XuzM/oM8Sx+zSA+3hV7H8A1ePikd+wFpXcZhY0zoLS 00BoAf66CvRvGAGX8e1HouL4LPs/V5vllxcObKLrzcziCNziLhAy1MkONAwSagvP JA50nh0Jau6p/+inF/931oeixmVvTV0xJjqveIf6cVsyv9jNy+I53rFwVsaiSVLz dvzrnPmzWbT4F1yuLgqXccd68FF4Zm+Vl+uHyzaZ7b8e1JK7ABg9a7Us6CjP9HXq aw63hUKmrsTsTyLCWkoU6ypeCYJF3Et49pzicLRFOdXufWJLTRa0iNbgyf8gNOQt K8igJZkmHnb4RByLITtHot3Qdpn2Mr+8Cu/H4TpqQBAKom6mxdwkfm4lojBzLoRn IIr81yTJD00uqgQ40IeoFyV5zz4CqMti3GQX8QXO2wdbrKlaLCr4UDuu4llE2AJ9 1cYV8SMoC2yXaGsshe2dvCq4/lhxiOXPBNoR/GvtvXd84AXaYCsuphUhSGTybYLG a3LO72mn4R8hAnqzh3+xyC4Irs9hgVJUKOD7fFn0ZPvCXgLUQIYRimIprEQ0EsCI /lcdOwOheSGM9Fq5U/fcWDdZcmE= =HiNz -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'usb-for-v4.19' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/balbi/usb into usb-next Felipe writes: usb: changes for v4.19 Not a big pull request with only 37 non-merge commits, most of which are touching dwc2 (74% of the changes). ALSA: usb-audio: Add support for Processing Units in UAC3
This patch adds support for the Processig Units defined in the UAC3 spec. The main difference with the previous specs is the lack of on/off switches in the controls for these units and the addiction of the new Multi Function Processing Unit. The current version of the UAC3 spec doesn't define any useful controls for the new Multi Function Processing Unit so no control will get created once this unit is parsed. USB: Add support to store lane count used by USB 3.2
USB 3.2 specification adds Dual-lane support, doubling the maximum SuperSpeedPlus data rate from 10Gbps to 20Gbps. Dual-lane takes into use a second set of rx and tx wires/pins in the Type-C cable and connector. Add "rx_lanes" and "tx_lanes" variables to struct usb_device to store the numer of lanes in use. Number of lanes can be read using the extended port status hub request that was introduced in USB 3.1. Extended port status rx and tx lane count are zero based, maximum lanes supported by non inter-chip (SSIC) USB 3.2 is 2 (dual lane) with rx and tx lane count symmetric. SSIC devices support asymmetric lanes up to 4 lanes per direction. If extended port status is not available then default to one lane. USB: clarify USB_DT_USB_SSP_CAP_SIZE(ssac) definition
USB_DT_USB_SSP_CAP_SIZE(ssac) gives the size of the SSP capability descriptor. The descriptor consists of 12 bytes plus a array of SSA entries. The number of SSA entries is stored in a SSAC value in the first 12 bytes, The USB3.1 specification 9.6.2.5 defines SSAC as zero based: "The number of Sublink Speed Attributes = SSAC + 1." License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with a license
Many user space API headers have licensing information, which is either
incomplete, badly formatted or just a shorthand for referring to the
license under which the file is supposed to be. This makes it hard for
compliance tools to determine the correct license.
Update these files with an SPDX license identifier. The identifier was
chosen based on the license information in the file.
GPL/LGPL licensed headers get the matching GPL/LGPL SPDX license
identifier with the added 'WITH Linux-syscall-note' exception, which is
the officially assigned exception identifier for the kernel syscall
exception:
NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".
This exception makes it possible to include GPL headers into non GPL
code, without confusing license compliance tools.
Headers which have either explicit dual licensing or are just licensed
under a non GPL license are updated with the corresponding SPDX
identifier and the GPLv2 with syscall exception identifier. The format
is:
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR SPDX-ID-OF-OTHER-LICENSE)
SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be
used instead of the full boiler plate text. The update does not remove
existing license information as this has to be done on a case by case
basis and the copyright holders might have to be consulted. This will
happen in a separate step.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne. See the previous patch in this series for the
methodology of how this patch was researched.

License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with no license
Many user space API headers are missing licensing information, which makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default are files without license information under the default license of the kernel, which is GPLV2. Marking them GPLV2 would exclude them from being included in non GPLV2 code, which is obviously not intended. The user space API headers fall under the syscall exception which is in the kernels COPYING file: NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work". otherwise syscall usage would not be possible. Update the files which contain no license information with an SPDX license identifier. The chosen identifier is 'GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note' which is the officially assigned identifier for the Linux syscall exception. SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. USB: fix out-of-bounds in usb_set_configuration
Andrey Konovalov reported a possible out-of-bounds problem for a USB interface association descriptor. He writes: It seems there's no proper size check of a USB_DT_INTERFACE_ASSOCIATION descriptor. It's only checked that the size is >= 2 in usb_parse_configuration(), so find_iad() might do out-of-bounds access to intf_assoc->bInterfaceCount. Regularly, when a new header is created in include/uapi/, the developer forgets to add it in the corresponding Kbuild file. This error is usually detected after the release is out. usb: add helper to extract bits 12:11 of wMaxPacketSize
According to USB Specification 2.0 table 9-4, wMaxPacketSize is a bitfield. Endpoint's maxpacket is laid out in bits 10:0. For high-speed, high-bandwidth isochronous endpoints, bits 12:11 contain a multiplier to tell us how many transactions we want to try per uframe. This means that if we want an isochronous endpoint to issue 3 transfers of 1024 bytes per uframe, wMaxPacketSize should contain the value: 1024 | (2 << 11) or 5120 (0x1400). In order to make Host and Peripheral controller drivers' life easier, we're adding a helper which returns bits 12:11. Note that no care is made WRT to checking endpoint type and gadget's speed.
