ARM: 8867/1: vdso: pass --be8 to linker if necessary
[ Upstream commit c5d0e49e8d8f1a23034fdf8e935afc0c8f7ae27d ]

The commit fe00e50b2db8 ("ARM: 8858/1: vdso: use $(LD) instead of $(CC)
to link VDSO") removed the passing of CFLAGS, since ld doesn't take
those directly. However, prior, big-endian ARM was relying on gcc to
translate its -mbe8 option into ld's --be8 option. Lacking this, ld
generated be32 code, making the VDSO generate SIGILL when called by
userspace.

This commit passes --be8 if CONFIG_CPU_ENDIAN_BE8 is enabled.

ARM: 8939/1: kbuild: use correct nm executable
[ Upstream commit 29c623d64f0dcd6aa10e0eabd16233e77114090b ]

Since $(NM) variable can be easily overridden for the whole build, it's
better to use it instead of $(CROSS_COMPILE)nm. The use of $(CROSS_COMPILE)
prefixed variables where their calculated equivalents can be used is
incorrect. This fixes issues with builds where $(NM) is set to llvm-nm.

ARM: 8858/1: vdso: use $(LD) instead of $(CC) to link VDSO
[ Upstream commit fe00e50b2db8c60e4ec90befad1f5bab8ca2c800 ]

We use $(LD) to link vmlinux, modules, decompressors, etc.

VDSO is the only exceptional case where $(CC) is used as the linker
driver, but I do not know why we need to do so. VDSO uses a special
linker script, and does not link standard libraries at all.

I changed the Makefile to use $(LD) rather than $(CC). I confirmed
the same vdso.so.raw was still produced.

Users will be able to use their favorite linker (e.g. lld instead of
of bfd) by passing LD= from the command line.

My plan is to rewrite all VDSO Makefiles to use $(LD), then delete

cc-ldoption.

FROMLIST: arm64: vdso32: Allow ld.lld to properly link the VDSO
As it stands now, the vdso32 Makefile hardcodes the linker to ld.bfd
using -fuse-ld=bfd with $(CC). This was taken from the arm vDSO
Makefile, as the comment notes, done in commit d2b30cd4b7 ("ARM:
8384/1: VDSO: force use of BFD linker").

Commit fe00e50b2db8 ("ARM: 8858/1: vdso: use $(LD) instead of $(CC) to
link VDSO") changed that Makefile to use $(LD) directly instead of
through $(CC), which matches how the rest of the kernel operates. Since
then, LD=ld.lld means that the arm vDSO will be linked with ld.lld,
which has shown no problems so far.

Allow ld.lld to link this vDSO as we do the regular arm vDSO. To do
this, we need to do a few things:

* Add a LD_COMPAT variable, which defaults to $(CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT)ld
  with gcc and $(LD) if LLVM is 1, which will be ld.lld, or
  $(CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT)ld if not, which matches the logic of the main
  Makefile. It is overrideable for further customization and avoiding
  breakage.

* Eliminate cc32-ldoption, which matches commit 055efab3120b ("kbuild:
  drop support for cc-ldoption").

With those, we can use $(LD_COMPAT) in cmd_ldvdso and change the flags
from compiler linker flags to linker flags directly. We eliminate
-mfloat-abi=soft because it is not handled by the linker.

mm: replace memmap_context by meminit_context
commit c1d0da83358a2316d9be7f229f26126dbaa07468 upstream.

Patch series "mm: fix memory to node bad links in sysfs", v3.

Sometimes, firmware may expose interleaved memory layout like this:

 Early memory node ranges
   node   1: [mem 0x0000000000000000-0x000000011fffffff]
   node   2: [mem 0x0000000120000000-0x000000014fffffff]
   node   1: [mem 0x0000000150000000-0x00000001ffffffff]
   node   0: [mem 0x0000000200000000-0x000000048fffffff]
   node   2: [mem 0x0000000490000000-0x00000007ffffffff]

In that case, we can see memory blocks assigned to multiple nodes in
sysfs:

  $ ls -l /sys/devices/system/memory/memory21
  total 0
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     0 Aug 24 05:27 node1 -> ../../node/node1
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     0 Aug 24 05:27 node2 -> ../../node/node2
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 65536 Aug 24 05:27 online
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 65536 Aug 24 05:27 phys_device
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 65536 Aug 24 05:27 phys_index
  drwxr-xr-x 2 root root     0 Aug 24 05:27 power
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 65536 Aug 24 05:27 removable
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 65536 Aug 24 05:27 state
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     0 Aug 24 05:25 subsystem -> ../../../../bus/memory
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 65536 Aug 24 05:25 uevent
  -r--r--r-- 1 root root 65536 Aug 24 05:27 valid_zones

The same applies in the node's directory with a memory21 link in both
the node1 and node2's directory.

This is wrong but doesn't prevent the system to run. However when
later, one of these memory blocks is hot-unplugged and then hot-plugged,
the system is detecting an inconsistency in the sysfs layout and a
BUG_ON() is raised:

This has been seen on PowerPC LPAR.

The root cause of this issue is that when node's memory is registered,
the range used can overlap another node's range, thus the memory block
is registered to multiple nodes in sysfs.

There are two issues here:

 (a) The sysfs memory and node's layouts are broken due to these
     multiple links

 (b) The link errors in link_mem_sections() should not lead to a system
     panic.

To address (a) register_mem_sect_under_node should not rely on the
system state to detect whether the link operation is triggered by a hot
plug operation or not. This is addressed by the patches 1 and 2 of this
series.

Issue (b) will be addressed separately.

This patch (of 2):

The memmap_context enum is used to detect whether a memory operation is
due to a hot-add operation or happening at boot time.

Make it general to the hotplug operation and rename it as
meminit_context.

There is no functional change introduced by this patch

KVM: arm64: Assume write fault on S1PTW permission fault on instruction fetch
commit c4ad98e4b72cb5be30ea282fce935248f2300e62 upstream.

KVM currently assumes that an instruction abort can never be a write.
This is in general true, except when the abort is triggered by
a S1PTW on instruction fetch that tries to update the S1 page tables
(to set AF, for example).

This can happen if the page tables have been paged out and brought
back in without seeing a direct write to them (they are thus marked
read only), and the fault handling code will make the PT executable(!)
instead of writable. The guest gets stuck forever.

In these conditions, the permission fault must be considered as
a write so that the Stage-1 update can take place. This is essentially
the I-side equivalent of the problem fixed by 60e21a0ef5 ("arm64: KVM:
Take S1 walks into account when determining S2 write faults").

Update kvm_is_write_fault() to return true on IABT+S1PTW, and introduce
kvm_vcpu_trap_is_exec_fault() that only return true when no faulting
on a S1 fault. Additionally, kvm_vcpu_dabt_iss1tw() is renamed to
kvm_vcpu_abt_iss1tw(), as the above makes it plain that it isn't
specific to data abort.

KVM: SVM: Add a dedicated INVD intercept routine
[ Upstream commit 4bb05f30483fd21ea5413eaf1182768f251cf625 ]

The INVD instruction intercept performs emulation. Emulation can't be done
on an SEV guest because the guest memory is encrypted.

Provide a dedicated intercept routine for the INVD intercept. And since
the instruction is emulated as a NOP, just skip it instead.

KVM: x86: Reset MMU context if guest toggles CR4.SMAP or CR4.PKE
[ Upstream commit 8d214c481611b29458a57913bd786f0ac06f0605 ]

Reset the MMU context during kvm_set_cr4() if SMAP or PKE is toggled.
Recent commits to (correctly) not reload PDPTRs when SMAP/PKE are
toggled inadvertantly skipped the MMU context reset due to the mask
of bits that triggers PDPTR loads also being used to trigger MMU context
resets.

MIPS: Add the missing 'CPU_1074K' into __get_cpu_type()

Commit 442e14a2c5 ("MIPS: Add 1074K CPU support explicitly.") split
1074K from the 74K as an unique CPU type, while it missed to add the
'CPU_1074K' in __get_cpu_type(). So let's add it back.

RISC-V: Take text_mutex in ftrace_init_nop()
[ Upstream commit 66d18dbda8469a944dfec6c49d26d5946efba218 ]

Without this we get lockdep failures. They're spurious failures as SMP isn't
up when ftrace_init_nop() is called. As far as I can tell the easiest fix is
to just take the lock, which also seems like the safest fix.

KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Treat TM-related invalid form instructions on P9 like the valid ones
[ Upstream commit 1dff3064c764b5a51c367b949b341d2e38972bec ]

On P9 DD2.2 due to a CPU defect some TM instructions need to be emulated by
KVM. This is handled at first by the hardware raising a softpatch interrupt
when certain TM instructions that need KVM assistance are executed in the
guest. Althought some TM instructions per Power ISA are invalid forms they
can raise a softpatch interrupt too. For instance, 'tresume.' instruction
as defined in the ISA must have bit 31 set (1), but an instruction that
matches 'tresume.' PO and XO opcode fields but has bit 31 not set (0), like
0x7cfe9ddc, also raises a softpatch interrupt. Similarly for 'treclaim.'
and 'trechkpt.' instructions with bit 31 = 0, i.e. 0x7c00075c and
0x7c0007dc, respectively. Hence, if a code like the following is executed
in the guest it will raise a softpatch interrupt just like a 'tresume.'
when the TM facility is enabled ('tabort. 0' in the example is used only
to enable the TM facility):

int main() { asm("tabort. 0; .long 0x7cfe9ddc;"); }

Currently in such a case KVM throws a complete trace like:

and then treats the executed instruction as a 'nop'.

However the POWER9 User's Manual, in section "4.6.10 Book II Invalid
Forms", informs that for TM instructions bit 31 is in fact ignored, thus
for the TM-related invalid forms ignoring bit 31 and handling them like the
valid forms is an acceptable way to handle them. POWER8 behaves the same
way too.

This commit changes the handling of the cases here described by treating
the TM-related invalid forms that can generate a softpatch interrupt
just like their valid forms (w/ bit 31 = 1) instead of as a 'nop' and by
gently reporting any other unrecognized case to the host and treating it as
illegal instruction instead of throwing a trace and treating it as a 'nop'.

x86/pkeys: Add check for pkey "overflow"
[ Upstream commit 16171bffc829272d5e6014bad48f680cb50943d9 ]

Alex Shi reported the pkey macros above arch_set_user_pkey_access()
to be unused. They are unused, and even refer to a nonexistent
CONFIG option.

But, they might have served a good use, which was to ensure that
the code does not try to set values that would not fit in the
PKRU register. As it stands, a too-large 'pkey' value would
be likely to silently overflow the u32 new_pkru_bits.

Add a check to look for overflows. Also add a comment to remind
any future developer to closely examine the types used to store
pkey values if arch_max_pkey() ever changes.

This boots and passes the x86 pkey selftests.

ARM: 8948/1: Prevent OOB access in stacktrace
[ Upstream commit 40ff1ddb5570284e039e0ff14d7a859a73dc3673 ]

The stacktrace code can read beyond the stack size, when it attempts to

This can happen on normal, non-corrupt stacks. Since the unwind
information in the extable is not correct for function prologues, the
unwinding code can return data from the stack which is not actually the
caller function address, and if in_entry_text() happens to succeed on
this value, we can end up reading data from outside the task's stack

powerpc/eeh: Only dump stack once if an MMIO loop is detected
[ Upstream commit 4e0942c0302b5ad76b228b1a7b8c09f658a1d58a ]

Many drivers don't check for errors when they get a 0xFFs response from an
MMIO load. As a result after an EEH event occurs a driver can get stuck in
a polling loop unless it some kind of internal timeout logic.

Currently EEH tries to detect and report stuck drivers by dumping a stack
trace after eeh_dev_check_failure() is called EEH_MAX_FAILS times on an
already frozen PE. The value of EEH_MAX_FAILS was chosen so that a dump
would occur every few seconds if the driver was spinning in a loop. This
results in a lot of spurious stack traces in the kernel log.

Fix this by limiting it to printing one stack trace for each PE freeze. If
the driver is truely stuck the kernel's hung task detector is better suited
to reporting the probelm anyway.

x86/ioapic: Unbreak check_timer()
commit 86a82ae0b5095ea24c55898a3f025791e7958b21 upstream.

Several people reported in the kernel bugzilla that between v4.12 and v4.13
the magic which works around broken hardware and BIOSes to find the proper
timer interrupt delivery mode stopped working for some older affected
platforms which need to fall back to ExtINT delivery mode.

The reason is that the core code changed to keep track of the masked and
disabled state of an interrupt line more accurately to avoid the expensive
hardware operations.

That broke an assumption in i8259_make_irq() which invokes

     disable_irq_nosync();
     irq_set_chip_and_handler();
     enable_irq();

Up to v4.12 this worked because enable_irq() unconditionally unmasked the
interrupt line, but after the state tracking improvements this is not
longer the case because the IO/APIC uses lazy disabling. So the line state
is unmasked which means that enable_irq() does not call into the new irq
chip to unmask it.

In principle this is a shortcoming of the core code, but it's more than
unclear whether the core code should try to reset state. At least this
cannot be done unconditionally as that would break other existing use cases
where the chip type is changed, e.g. when changing the trigger type, but
the callers expect the state to be preserved.

As the way how check_timer() is switching the delivery modes is truly
unique, the obvious fix is to simply unmask the i8259 manually after
changing the mode to ExtINT delivery and switching the irq chip to the
legacy PIC.

Note, that the fixes tag is not really precise, but identifies the commit
which broke the assumptions in the IO/APIC and i8259 code and that's the
kernel version to which this needs to be backported.

arch/x86/lib/usercopy_64.c: fix __copy_user_flushcache() cache writeback
commit a1cd6c2ae47ee10ff21e62475685d5b399e2ed4a upstream.

If we copy less than 8 bytes and if the destination crosses a cache
line, __copy_user_flushcache would invalidate only the first cache line.

This patch makes it invalidate the second cache line as well.

m68k: q40: Fix info-leak in rtc_ioctl
[ Upstream commit 7cf78b6b12fd5550545e4b73b35dca18bd46b44c ]

When the option is RTC_PLL_GET, pll will be copied to userland
via copy_to_user. pll is initialized using mach_get_rtc_pll indirect
call and mach_get_rtc_pll is only assigned with function
q40_get_rtc_pll in arch/m68k/q40/config.c.
In function q40_get_rtc_pll, the field pll_ctrl is not initialized.
This will leak uninitialized stack content to userland.
Fix this by zeroing the uninitialized field.

commit eefb8c124fd969e9a174ff2bedff86aa305a7438 upstream.

Introduce a new READELF variable to top-level Makefile, so the name of
readelf binary can be specified.

Before this change the name of the binary was hardcoded to
"$(CROSS_COMPILE)readelf" which might not be present for every
toolchain.

This allows to build with LLVM Object Reader by using make parameter
READELF=llvm-readelf.

commit 72a9c673636b779e370983fea08e40f97039b981 upstream.

A spanking new machine I just got has all but one USB ports wired as 3.0.
Booting defconfig resulted in no keyboard or mouse, which was pretty
uncool. Let's enable that -- USB3 is ubiquitous rather than an oddity.
As 'y' not 'm' -- recovering from initrd problems needs a keyboard.

Also add it to the 32-bit defconfig.

powerpc/dma: Fix dma_map_ops::get_required_mask
commit 437ef802e0adc9f162a95213a3488e8646e5fc03 upstream.

There are 2 problems with it:
  1. "<" vs expected "<<"
  2. the shift number is an IOMMU page number mask, not an address
  mask as the IOMMU page shift is missing.

This did not hit us before f1565c24b596 ("powerpc: use the generic
dma_ops_bypass mode") because we had additional code to handle bypass
mask so this chunk (almost?) never executed.However there were
reports that aacraid does not work with "iommu=nobypass".

After f1565c24b596, aacraid (and probably others which call
dma_get_required_mask() before setting the mask) was unable to enable
64bit DMA and fall back to using IOMMU which was known not to work,
one of the problems is double free of an IOMMU page.

This fixes DMA for aacraid, both with and without "iommu=nobypass" in
the kernel command line. Verified with "stress-ng -d 4".

x86/boot/compressed: Disable relocation relaxation
commit 09e43968db40c33a73e9ddbfd937f46d5c334924 upstream.

The x86-64 psABI [0] specifies special relocation types
(R_X86_64_[REX_]GOTPCRELX) for indirection through the Global Offset
Table, semantically equivalent to R_X86_64_GOTPCREL, which the linker
can take advantage of for optimization (relaxation) at link time. This
is supported by LLD and binutils versions 2.26 onwards.

The compressed kernel is position-independent code, however, when using
LLD or binutils versions before 2.27, it must be linked without the -pie
option. In this case, the linker may optimize certain instructions into
a non-position-independent form, by converting foo@GOTPCREL(%rip) to $foo.

This potential issue has been present with LLD and binutils-2.26 for a
long time, but it has never manifested itself before now:

- LLD and binutils-2.26 only relax
	movq	foo@GOTPCREL(%rip), %reg
  to
	leaq	foo(%rip), %reg
  which is still position-independent, rather than
	mov	$foo, %reg
  which is permitted by the psABI when -pie is not enabled.

- GCC happens to only generate GOTPCREL relocations on mov instructions.

- CLang does generate GOTPCREL relocations on non-mov instructions, but
  when building the compressed kernel, it uses its integrated assembler
  (due to the redefinition of KBUILD_CFLAGS dropping -no-integrated-as),
  which has so far defaulted to not generating the GOTPCRELX
  relocations.

Nick Desaulniers reports [1,2]:

  "A recent change [3] to a default value of configuration variable
   (ENABLE_X86_RELAX_RELOCATIONS OFF -> ON) in LLVM now causes Clang's
   integrated assembler to emit R_X86_64_GOTPCRELX/R_X86_64_REX_GOTPCRELX
   relocations. LLD will relax instructions with these relocations based
   on whether the image is being linked as position independent or not.
   When not, then LLD will relax these instructions to use absolute
   addressing mode (R_RELAX_GOT_PC_NOPIC). This causes kernels built with
   Clang and linked with LLD to fail to boot."

Patch series [4] is a solution to allow the compressed kernel to be
linked with -pie unconditionally, but even if merged is unlikely to be
backported. As a simple solution that can be applied to stable as well,
prevent the assembler from generating the relaxed relocation types using
the -mrelax-relocations=no option. For ease of backporting, do this
unconditionally.

KVM: MIPS: Change the definition of kvm type
[ Upstream commit 15e9e35cd1dec2bc138464de6bf8ef828df19235 ]

MIPS defines two kvm types:

 #define KVM_VM_MIPS_TE          0
 #define KVM_VM_MIPS_VZ          1

In Documentation/virt/kvm/api.rst it is said that "You probably want to
use 0 as machine type", which implies that type 0 be the "automatic" or
"default" type. And, in user-space libvirt use the null-machine (with
type 0) to detect the kvm capability, which returns "KVM not supported"
on a VZ platform.

I try to fix it in QEMU but it is ugly:
https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2020-08/msg05629.html

And Thomas Huth suggests me to change the definition of kvm type:
https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2020-09/msg03281.html

So I define like this:

 #define KVM_VM_MIPS_AUTO        0
 #define KVM_VM_MIPS_VZ          1
 #define KVM_VM_MIPS_TE          2

Since VZ and TE cannot co-exists, using type 0 on a TE platform will
still return success (so old user-space tools have no problems on new
kernels); the advantage is that using type 0 on a VZ platform will not
return failure. So, the only problem is "new user-space tools use type
2 on old kernels", but if we treat this as a kernel bug, we can backport
this patch to old stable kernels.

failure. Fix this by using __always_inline.

vgacon: remove software scrollback support
commit 973c096f6a85e5b5f2a295126ba6928d9a6afd45 upstream.

Yunhai Zhang recently fixed a VGA software scrollback bug in commit
ebfdfeeae8c0 ("vgacon: Fix for missing check in scrollback handling"),
but that then made people look more closely at some of this code, and
there were more problems on the vgacon side, but also the fbcon software
scrollback.

We don't really have anybody who maintains this code - probably because
nobody actually _uses_ it any more. Sure, people still use both VGA and
the framebuffer consoles, but they are no longer the main user
interfaces to the kernel, and haven't been for decades, so these kinds
of extra features end up bitrotting and not really being used.

So rather than try to maintain a likely unused set of code, I'll just
aggressively remove it, and see if anybody even notices. Maybe there
are people who haven't jumped on the whole GUI badnwagon yet, and think
it's just a fad. And maybe those people use the scrollback code.

If that turns out to be the case, we can resurrect this again, once
we've found the sucker^Wmaintainer for it who actually uses it.

ARC: [plat-hsdk]: Switch ethernet phy-mode to rgmii-id
[ Upstream commit 26907eb605fbc3ba9dbf888f21d9d8d04471271d ]

HSDK board has Micrel KSZ9031, recent commit
bcf3440c6dd ("net: phy: micrel: add phy-mode support for the KSZ9031 PHY")
caused a breakdown of Ethernet.
Using 'phy-mode = "rgmii"' is not correct because accodring RGMII
specification it is necessary to have delay on RX (PHY to MAX)
which is not generated in case of "rgmii".
Using "rgmii-id" adds necessary delay and solves the issue.

Also adding name of PHY placed on HSDK board.

irqchip/eznps: Fix build error for !ARC700 builds
[ Upstream commit 89d29997f103d08264b0685796b420d911658b96 ]

eznps driver is supposed to be platform independent however it ends up
including stuff from inside arch/arc headers leading to rand config
build errors.

The quick hack to fix this (proper fix is too much chrun for non active
user-base) is to add following to nps platform agnostic header.
 - copy AUX_IENABLE from arch/arc header
 - move CTOP_AUX_IACK from arch/arc/plat-eznps/*/**

Newer version of HSDK aka HSDK-4xD (with dual issue HS48x4 CPU) wired up
the perf interrupt, so enable that in DT.
This is OK for old HSDK where this irq is ignored because pct irq is not
wired up in hardware.
